Writing news I'm thrilled to share!

My short story What Breaks a Man was listed in Other Distinguished Mystery and Suspense of 2021 in Best American Mystery and Suspense!

This poignant tale of challenges between a father and son took root years ago during a road trip to Austin, Texas. I got stuck in a dreadful traffic jam along the way, which may have influenced the overall mood of the story.

I had plenty of time to examine the setting around me, and the toddler who runs the writing machine inside my head took over from there.

What Breaks a Man was originally published in Fiction River #36, Dark and Deadly Passions, where it keeps fantastic company!

It's also available standalone and as part of my collection Passages in the Real World.

Don't forget to check at your favorite indie bookstore, or request your favorite writer's work at your local library.

Congratulations to everyone included in this fabulous volume!
